The Plaintiff’s Playbook: How Security Failures are Turned into Narratives

A rare and unique behind-the-scenes look at how plaintiff attorneys build persuasive security cases from the ground up. Presented by Michael Haggard Esq., a veteran civil plaintiff trial lawyer, this session focuses on the storytelling mechanics that drive jury decision-making. Designed for seasoned security experts, the presentation explores how security failures are reframed into clear, visual narratives using site diagrams, timelines, and video evidence. Attendees will learn how technical deficiencies are translated into relatable human impact stories—and gain insight into the strategic blind spots defense teams often overlook when confronting well-prepared plaintiff cases.

How the Forensic Expert Proves and Presents the Standard of Care

Forensic Committee Chair and respected forensic expert Al Zajic demonstrates the importance of establishing the applicable standard of care to your case and presenting it in an understandable and compelling way. The session will also provide a better understanding of finding and using standards and guidelines that apply to the facts of the matter in which you have been retained.

Ethics and the Expert Witness

This highly demonstrative presentation explores the ethical obligations, practical realities, and litigation pressures faced by security experts serving as expert witnesses in high-stakes civil cases. Presented by Michael Haggard, an accomplished civil plaintiff attorney with extensive experience examining and challenging expert testimony, this session offers a candid, courtroom-tested perspective on credibility, independence, methodology, and disclosure. Tailored for seasoned members of the International Association of Professional Security Experts, the presentation examines real-world examples of ethical missteps and best practices, highlights how juries and judges evaluate expert conduct, and provides guidance on maintaining professional integrity while withstanding rigorous legal scrutiny.

How Will Artificial Intelligence Impact the Forensic Expert

Even at this embryotic stage in the development of AI, it has already dramatically effected how we live, learn, communicate, research, and even something as simple as pick a movie to watch. Attorney Shannon Kos Esq. will help you understand how attorneys currently use AI, how they use this technology to quickly and simply review expert’s prior depositions, and what surprises lurk ahead for the use of AI that could significantly impact forensic experts. And you’ll learn how experts can ethically use AI in their work.

This program will provide new ideas that will help you excel in your profession and have an immediate, positive impact on your practice.
