Michael A. Silva is an independent security consultant that has been practicing in the Greater Seattle area since 1985. As an independent consultant, Michael does not sell any type of security system or guard service, but instead provides expert security advice to clients for a consulting fee. This allows him to provide unbiased advice based on the client’s best interests, rather than the desire to sell any specific type of security solution.
During the more than 35 years he has been a consultant, Michael has served a wide variety of clients including companies such as Albertsons, Boise Cascade, Hewlett Packard, Nike, REI, and Starbucks. Michael has also provided security consulting services to city, state, and local government agencies, as well as to hospitals, schools, and other institutions such as the University of Washington.
Michael is board-certified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by ASIS International, and is a member of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC) and currently serves as Vice President of that organization.
Michael is author of the book “Becoming an Independent Security Consultant – A Practical Guide to Starting and Running a Successful Security Consulting Practice” (published May 2016), and regularly serves as a mentor to people who wish to enter the security consulting profession.
