So far, the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has killed over 170,000 worldwide and over 42,000 in the U.S. As many nations curtail non-essential industries to slow the contagion, the resulting economic impact has been dramatic. When industries are able to re-open, they will have changed forever. This is especially true for air travel which faces a “new normal” few can imagine. This webinar will explore the ways COVID-19 will alter almost everything about domestic and international travel. It will look at the changes that will occur to government regulations, airports and airlines. It will examine business travel risk management and duty of care. It will look at how travelers will be affected before, during and after travel. And, finally, we will look at the many way’s technology will be utilized to implement the new reality of air travel.
Brent Barker is a blockchain security advocate with over 30 years of security experience with the U.S. Army, U.S. Department of State, University of Washington and as a private consultant. As a Diplomatic Security Service Special Agent, he served at U.S. Embassies and Consulates around the world and as the State Department Liaison to the U.S. Marshals Service. He established the University of Washington’s international travel security program.
He worked with the World Economic Forum Travel Initiative Working Group to shape the future of security in travel using of blockchain. He is a member of the ASIS group reviewing the International Organization of Standards (ISO) draft standard for Travel Risk Management. His focus is on blockchain security. His goal is to educate the security industry about the importance of blockchain and work for international standards, regulations and laws for blockchain.
