He joined in the security industry in 1978 and has completed over 1000 consulting and design projects over the last 40 years. Dave joined ASIS in 1981, received his CPP in 1990, and is past chair of the ASIS Standing Council on Security Architecture & Engineering. Dave joined the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC) in 1992, and is a Meritorious Life Member, board member and past president. He became a Certified Security Consultant (CSC) in 2006. In 1995, Dave was honored by SIA’s Standards Achievement Award for his work in developing the SIA/IAPSC CAD Symbol standards. In 2015, Dave was honored by IAPSC’s Distinguished Service Accolade and, in 2016, Dave received the first U.S. OSPA (Outstanding Security Performance Award) in the security consulting category. Dave has authored more than 30 articles for security industry publications and 19 chapter parts for the Protection of Assets manual. Alan Brockbank, CPP, CSC, is the President of B-Secure Consulting, a security management consulting firm based in Morrisonville, NY. Alan has over thirty-one years of security experience. He has extensive experience in developing security programs and leading security operations for manufacturing, research, office, and warehousing facilities, most recently as the Associate Director of Security Operations for Pfizer and previously for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Alan started his security career as a Security Specialist in the U.S. Air Force. Alan is board certified in security management, by the American Society for Industrial Security, and has earned the designation of Certified Protection Professional, the security profession’s highest recognition of practitioners. He has also achieved the designation of Certified Security Consultant from the International Association of Professional Security Consultants. He has a Master of Arts degree in Business and Organizational Security Management. He is an active member of the American Society for Industrial Security and is the current president of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC). Tommy Burns, MA, CPP, is a retired police chief, practicing in Forensic Consulting and expert witness. He is the owner of Burns & Associates, Inc. based in Henderson, NV. He was previously a contractor-consultant to the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center (SNCTC) as the Privacy Officer and is a faculty-instructor in Criminal Justice and Security for the University of Phoenix. Mr. Burns previously served as security director for several Hotel-Casino properties in the Las Vegas valley. In that capacity, he worked with the executive teams and security staffs to develop strategies, mitigate risk, and provide overall asset protection for the hotel and casino properties. Security duties included being responsible for ensuring security compliance with all gaming laws and Minimal Internal Controls (MICs). Mr. Burns is a licensed Security Consultant by the NEVADA PILB, #1063. Mr. Burns is a Lead Faculty Instructor in Criminal Justice and Security for University of Phoenix and a member of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC). Frank Pisciotta, CSC is President of Business Protection Specialists, Inc. based in Raleigh, NC. The firm specializes in security and program development for a variety of industries. He has managed over 4500 security-consulting engagements in his 28+ year consulting career. He has built BPS into an international provider of security best practices, program design, threat assessment, risk analysis and security design services. Frank currently serves on the ASIS International Food Defense and Agriculture Security Committee. Frank is a regular speaker and author on topics related to physical security, information security and personnel security. Frank possesses a Masters degree in Public Administration, a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, and was board certified in Security Management by ASIS as a Certified Protection Professional in 1994. Frank is a past president of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), is a certified security consultant and leads its Technical Standards Committee. Michael Silva, CPP, is the owner of Silva Consultants founded in 1985 and the first independent security consulting and design firm to be located in the Pacific Northwest. He is based in Covington, WA. He has over forty years of security industry experience including hands-on involvement in every phase of security system planning, design, installation and service. Silva Consultants has performed work on hundreds of projects throughout the United States and our clients have included many of the largest corporations and public institutions located in the Pacific Northwest. He is the author of “Becoming an Independent Security Consultant: A Practical Guide to Starting and Running a Successful Security Consulting Practice” published in 2016 and now available on Amazon.com. He is also the author of over 70 articles and publications. He is board certified in security management and has been designated as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by ASIS International. He is an officer on the board of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC). Ken Wheatley MA, CPP, is the Founder and Principal Advisor of Royal Security Group LLC, a security and business management, and litigation support consulting practice. Some of his clients include: Sony, Staples, MetroPCS, EasyTurf, VisiQuate, Seattle Police Department, Avalon Capital Group, Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego Chamber of Commerce, and numerous law firms. He retired after 24 years with Sony Electronics as the Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer for their global operations, leading an-house staff of 18 and managing a $100 million budget. He also served as an FBI Special Agent in a variety of investigative and undercover operations involving kidnapping, espionage, drugs, fugitives, and violent criminal apprehensions. During the course of his career, Mr. Wheatley and his teams have arranged and executed security at 6 Olympics, (Athens, Turin, Beijing, Vancouver, London, and Sochi), and two INSIGHTS World Conferences, among other events. He has been the Detail Leader or Event Security Director at various events, protecting Margaret Thatcher, Newt Gingrich, Maya Angelou, Larry King, Benazir Bhutto, Kenny Loggins, Tom Peters, General Norman Schwarzkoff, and General Colin Powell. At the invitation of the Singapore government, he spoke at the APEC conference, and has spoken at conferences spanning from Helsinki to Jamaica and around the U.S. He earned his undergraduate degree from Florida International University, and graduated summa cum laude (4.0) with his Master’s from Webster University. He’s completed Senior Executive Education Programs at the Harvard JFK School of Government, the University of Michigan Business School, and Kellogg School of Management. He has been Board Certified in Business and Organizational Security Management since 1997, and is a licensed investigator in the State of California.
