Michael A. Silva, CPP, CSC
Michael A. Silva is an independent security consultant that has been practicing in since 1985. As an independent consultant, Michael does not sell any type of security system or guard service, but instead provides expert security advice to clients for a consulting fee. This allows him to provide unbiased advice based on the client’s best interests, rather than the desire to sell any specific type of security solution.
During the more than 35 years he has been a consultant, Michael has served a wide variety of clients in industries including healthcare, research and development, biotechnology, manufacturing, insurance and financial services, warehousing and distribution, and multifamily housing.
Michael is board-certified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by ASIS International, and is a member of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC) and holds the Certified Security Consultant (CSC) certification issued by that organization.
Michael is author of the book “Becoming an Independent Security Consultant – A Practical Guide to Starting and Running a Successful Security Consulting Practice” (published May 2016), and regularly serves as a mentor to people who wish to enter the security consulting profession.
Wael Lahoud, CISSP, ESS, GCCC, PSP
Wael Lahoud is a Professional Security Consultant, Advisor and Expert, board certified in physical security with over 14 years’ experience helping clients and organizations identify and implement solutions to their ever-evolving security needs. As the Founder/Owner of Goldmark Security Consulting, his focus is on security risks and the intersection of business and technology, helping clients bridge the critical gaps between physical, information, cyber security and their management.
Prior to founding Goldmark, Mr. Lahoud served in numerous key senior management positions, both domestic and international, as a Subject Matter Expert with responsibility for planning, design, engineering, execution and management of major governmental and private industry projects, across industries including telecommunications, education, healthcare, energy, utilities, commercial facilities and transportation.
His prior experience also includes working with one of the leading manufacturers of complete IP video security and surveillance solutions, advising and guiding regional partners, end users and other security consultants through complex design, installation, and training phases in large projects in more than 11 EMEA countries. This included a 2500-camera integrated IP video surveillance solution project at Doha International Airport, a 3,700-camera multi-tenant IP video surveillance system at Delhi International Airport, and a highly available geo-clustered 2000+ Camera IP Video Surveillance solution project for the City of Toronto.
Charles LeBlanc, P.E., CPP
Charles is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the design and construction of physical security systems and serves as a Project Executive for security projects in many markets. He has worked on a wide range of project types from renovations and system upgrades/migrations to new construction of large facilities and campuses. Charles is actively involved in client and project development, physical security and security system assessments, concept designs, and he specializes in the unique requirements of hospitals, campuses, existing system retrofits/upgrades, console room operations, and the integration of security systems with facility architecture and operations.
Jim Townzen, PSP
Jim is a staff consultant with more than 25 years of professional security experience. Jim has extensive experience in long-term security technology master planning, large-scale system designs, and the development of tightly integrated security systems including access control, closed circuit television, alarms, command center (dispatch) design development, and other building monitoring/control systems related technologies. He has assessed, designed, and managed the implementation of complex, tightly integrated security systems packages including access control, closed circuit television, digital video recording, intrusion detection, His expertise lies in his thorough understanding of integrated security technologies and his ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Jim has worked with multiple systems and his in-depth knowledge allows him to assess client needs and design and specify equipment utilizing state-of the-art technology applications optimally suited to fulfilling those needs.
Jim holds a Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation from ASIS International (Arlington, Virginia), a certification for those with expertise in conducting threat surveys; designing integrated security systems that include equipment, procedures, and people; or installing, operating, and maintaining such systems. He is a member of ASIS International and the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), currently serving on the Board of Directors and as the Chair for the Association’s Special Interest Group on Security Design.
