Once you have established a list of candidates, it is recommended you contact each individual and determine:

• The consultant's specific experience in the expertise/industry.
• How many consulting engagements has the consultant performed in
  this area of expertise/industry.
• How recent were these engagements.
• What references are available for you to contact.
• Whether the consultant has the time and resources to complete the
  engagement in a timely manner.
